Partnering with Tucson MVS

IMG_0805.JPG

Tucson MVS matches volunteers with nonprofits and community-based organizations to utilize their gifts and serve the community of Tucson for one to two years.

MVS volunteers come ready in the spirit of service to use their degrees and experience, and to volunteer with your organization as they explore the connections of peace, justice, and creation care in Tucson.

What Does Tucson MVS Provide?

Talented Volunteers

Talented volunteers from across the U.S. commit to serving and supporting the goals of your organization, working 32-36 hours per week during their year of service.

Community & Support

The Tucson MVS support committee and Program Coordinator stay in touch with your organization and provide support and community for volunteers to equip them to effectively work and serve. Tucson MVS emphasizes community building and positive relationships within the unit - if your organization’s placement position has many evening and weekend hours involved, contact the Tucson MVS Program Coordinator to further explore whether the position and hours are a good fit!

Background Checks

Housing

Educational Retreats

Background and reference checks for each volunteer are completed when entering the MVS program to ensure they’re a good fit for serving and growing in community and volunteering at your organization. The volunteers also undergo an initial interview process before we recommend them to any agencies.

Housing and utilities, a personal stipend, and health insurance are provided for the volunteers, who are supported by the community of Shalom Mennonite Fellowship.

Volunteers will receive 10 days of vacation time to be taken during the year. In addition, some days off will be required for major holidays, MVS retreats and educational trips. Your organization may also provide additional time off, according to your policies.
