Deborah Yoder (she/her)

The question of where I am from has always felt complicated to answer. I like to introduce myself by saying I grew up (for the first 20 years of my life) in places that start with the letter B! I was born in the country of Benin, moved to Brookline Massachusetts when I was 7, moved to Burkina Faso three years later where I graduated high school before transitioning to Bluffton University in Bluffton Ohio. At Bluffton I majored in English and minored in Peace and Conflict Studies. As being an English major might suggest, I love reading! I am currently fascinated with Sci-Fi after having read through the original Dune series by Frank Herbert. I enjoy playing card or board games, watching Korean Dramas, and recently discovered an interest in puzzle books (thanks to my mom). I love baking and eating baked goods, french fries, and spicy foods. I am excited about growing and learning through my placement with the Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery Coalition, and in community with Shalom and my housemates. This year Iā€™m looking forward to growing in community with you all and exploring the city of Tucson!
